Lost Abbey Cable Car

FullSizeRender7% abv. American wild ale from The Lost Abbey in San Marcos, CA. I came across this beer during a brewery/bar hopping weekend with buddies at Toronado in San Diego. This baby set us back $60, which was a stretch for me because I am usually not a fan of sours. But here goes! Pours a hazy yellow color with a white head forming on the pour which quickly recedes to a thick wispy ring. Lactic and lemony in the nose along with minimal funky notes. The taste pairs pretty with the nose, although the sourness gets amped up a bit with a nice pucker and great fruitiness. Lemon, grass, and oak with a nice light fruity flesh presence. Light bodied with a great, lively carbonation throughout. A little jowl pucker with the sourness. Dry and delicate finish, but vibrant. This was a very nice American Wild and, again, that is coming from someone who isn’t a fan of sours! theBeerAuthority: A-
