The Bruery Mocha Wednesday

IMG_821818.6% abv. Bourbon barrel-aged Imperial Stout from The Bruery in Orange County, California. Black Tuesday brewed with TCHO cacao nibs and coffee beans from Portola. Pours dark brown with a rapidly dissipating thin mocha head which is standard for The Bruery’s strong ales. There was a ton of coffee upfront along with some mild oak, dark chocolate, roasted oats, and that bourbon goodness. Oh damn! The flavor was all coffee and bourbon booze. At that point, I had wished I aged this beauty a little longer – perhaps for a year or two. I knew I was gonna be up all night with this beer and lasted me a good five hours of very nice sipping, which I paid a dear price for in a matter of hours after waking up. Thin to medium mouthfeel. There were a ton of heat especially in the back finish and incredible coffee up front which were unfortunately overshadowed by the strong fresh bourbon. Overall, this was a fine brew and glad to have tried it for once and all!
