Pipeworks Cherry Truffle Abduction Imperial Stout

Pipeworks Abduction Truffle11% ABV. Imperial Stout from Pipeworks Brewing Company in Chicago, IL. A very generous beer aficionado from the Chicago area sent me this bottle as I really enjoyed the other variant, Abduction Coffee Break, beer so much. Pours a deep opaque brown with a small lasting tan ring lacing. The aroma shows chocolate-covered cherry fruit and pit notes, heavy chocolate and toffee, alcohol, nuts, tobacco and leather. The taste is quite sweet, nearly cloying with heavy fruity overtones. The base Abduction is almost lost this beer, I wished for a somewhat cherried version of the Coffee Break Abduction where the coffee bitterness could offset some of the sweetness and fruity overtones. Medium mouthfeel. Overall, a tad disappointing as it didn’t make for memorable drinking.
