Kuhnhenn Raspberry Eisbock

Kuhnhenn10.6% ABV. Fruit beer from Kuhnhenn Brewing in Warren, Michigan. I’ve heard that this beer was one of the more popular “fruit beers” out there especially it coming from a brewery that makes the highly sought-after Bourbon Barrel 4th Dementia (BB4D). Pours a deep dark red burgundy that leaves behind no head nor lacing throughout. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, chocolate and raspberries. The flavor gave off a heavy sweet and light bitter with a long fruity, raspberry (lots of them), and caramel finish. Full mouthfeel along with an oily/sticky texture, and the carbonation was flat throughout. Overall, quite tasty beer with some underlying raspberry-like booze to finish off. Glad to have tried this one and I probably will not seek this one out as it is reported to be $30 a bottle.

I’m sitting on a 2004 bottle for just the right time. Good to hear how it’s tasting fresh!
