The only authority for all things beer…

Dogfish Head Squall IPA (retired beer)

Squall IPA9% ABV. An unfiltered, 100% bottle-conditioned, super-pungent Double IPA and dry-hopped with Palisade, Amarillo, Simcoe, Cascade, CTZ, and Willamette hops from Dogfish Head Brewery in Milton, Delaware. Man, oh man. How I miss this beer – Dogfish apparently no longer brews this, why? I don’t know! Pours golden amber, slightly hazy with a big fluffy just off-white head. Plenty of resinous pine in the nose, some buttered biscuit and flower notes. Flavors were packed with nice caramel sweetness, malty hops, spices, mild pepper kick, and a citrusy profile. Medium to full body with a very mellow carbonation level throughout. Overall, this was a very nice DIPA that one could actually cellar for some time. If you know why Dogfish discontinued this beer or (miraculously) any planned re-releases, please let us know!
