Hill Farmstead Double Galaxy

HF Double Ga 38% ABV. Double IPA from Hill Farmstead Brewery in Greensboro, Vermont. Been wanting to try this one after really liking the Abner and Ephraim IPAs – this beer generated quite a bit of hype as this beer supposedly does a really good job showcasing the galaxy hops. I was able to acquire a growler through someone who was able to make the pilgrimage up to Hill Farmstead. Pours a hazy yellow-gold with a small white head. Aroma of citrus and tropical fruits, piney, resinous hops, caramel, and butter. Flavor of bitter, citrusy, and resinous hops, pineapple, caramel, biscuit, mango, and floral notes. Medium-bodied, with a sweet, juicy, resinous mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. This beer does really remind me of the Ephraim, however, did not exceed my expectations. Something was lacking – I expected a more hop-forward beer and the Ephraim remains my all-time favorite from the brewery. Nonetheless, this was a very good DIPA that really showcases the galaxy hops.
