Ska Brewing Modus Hoperandi

photo6.8% ABV. IPA from Ska Brewing Co. in Durango, CO. I came across a can of this beer in Tucson at a local liquor store that sells awesome craft beer and heard Modus Hoperandi was a very good beer so I had to try it out. This beer pours an amber color with a nice medium creamy beige head. Aroma is loaded with citrus and pine, crusty white bread, bread dough, caramel, toast and light mineral notes. Flavor is big on toast and some ceral grain up front, fruity yeast, honey and floral hops. Citrus and pine hops wash over everything, surprisingly late in the game, in a good way, leaving a citrus, mineral and bitter hop finish. Palate is nicely light to medium and mostly crisp and clean, though there is a lightly oily feel in the middle and end along with a fairly light, but blanketing and a little sharp carbonation, which fits this beer really well. Overall, a very nice and solid IPA that I found in Tucson which will be something I’ll be on the look out to every time I return!
