Maine Beer Company Zoe

MBC Zoe7.2% ABV. A red amber from the Maine Beer Company in Portland, Maine. I heard about this beer and started to notice Maine Beer Company products hitting the shelves in the DC area, so that was a real treat for me! Bottle label read: On a rainy fall day in 2009, my five-year-old daughter Zoe and I were wandering the streets of Bar Harbor and stumbled across the Whale Museum. Zoe loved it. Aww, how touching. I also wanted to try one of the finest examples of an amber beer which I do not review often enough. This beer pours a very hazy brown with red highlights. Very frothy off white head which leaves behind some excellent lacing throughout the drinking session. Spicy, floral, earthy pine and citrus hops and light, sweet toasted malts in the nose. Flavor is well-blended pine and citrus that gives way to smooth toasted malts. Residual toast and citrus. Medium-bodied with good carbonation throughout. A very well-made amber ale! One of the better ambers I ever had.
