Goulden Carolous Easter Ale

Gouden Carolus Easter Ale9% ABV. Belgian Strong Ale from Brouwerij Het Anker in Mechelen, Belgium. Gouden Carolus Easter Ale is brewed once a year to commemorate Easter. This ale was brewed and intended to drink with Easter dinner. This special brew may be laid down as it supposedly increases in complexity and balance as years pass. Gouden Carolus Easter Ale is the most limited production brew from the Het Anker brewery. Only 2,000 cases are brewed each year, so I am glad to have tried this one (2010 vintage). Pours amber haze with a beautiful and strong off-white lacing that lasts throughout. Aromas of bubble gum, Belgian candi sugar, Belgian yeast, and orange peels. Flavors definitely pick up the bubble gum, grapefruit, and Belgian candi sugar. Thin mouthfeel and well carbonated. Overall, an excellent brew from one of my favorite Belgian breweries!
