Death By Hops (beer review)

7% ABV. Winner of the First Olde Hickory Pro Am competition. Very limited production. A DIPA from Olde Hickory Brewery in Hickory, North Carolina. Acquired as part of an extra through a trade. Poured from a bomber into a pint glass. The beer pours with a hazy orange color and a 1-finger head which diminishes rather quickly. There is decent lacing throughout the session. The smell has a lot of citrus characters and is somewhat floral – juicy fruity. The taste was fantastic. It has a slight sweetness to it up front and then it gets somewhat bitter, but in a good way (in a HopSlam type of effect). Medium bodied and a decent level of carbonation going on. A very nice dry hopped DIPA overall! Quite sessionable, indeed. Beeradvocate: B+; Ratebeer: 96pts; Moneybeer: B, Available locally (Metro DC)? No.
